- portland.craigslist.org. You will find here the most complete list of creative jobs in the area. Craigslist discussion forums provide a venue to ask for free feedback: So, how long did it take you to get QuickBooks going for your freelance business? Does anyone know a good proofreader who will barter for a massage?
- www.racc.org. The Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) has done hours of work for you by culling local job postings (both employment and freelance) from a wide range of sources. These postings are in the “information services” section under “employment.”
- www.jackiemathys.com. Jackie Mathys is a recruiter in Portland who places experienced studio artists and managers with clients in design, advertising and corporate marketing. Job announcements are listed at the site as well.
- Mac Prichard’s List. Mac Prichard of Portland State University’s School of Social Work moderates a listserv for job postings in communications, public affairs and politics. Send your full name and e-mail address to lori@prichardcommunications.com to join 500+ others in Salem, Eugene and Portland metro who post and/or receive job listings.
- www.edsguild.org. Northwest Independent Editors Guild provides a very active listing of people seeking editors.
Local Web Resources for Freelancers

- www.pdxmindshare.com/. pdxMindShare was founded in 1999 by Anvil Media, Inc., as a means for exploring the future of the Internet through some of the top thinkers in Portland. The mission has evolved, and pdxMindShare now specializes in connecting qualified professionals with interested companies through email job postings and a monthly networking event.
- www.biznik.com. Biznik is a social networking site, with a tag line that captures its irreverent culture: “Networking that Doesn’t Suck.” It’s a place to post your creative profile, read/post pertinent articles, and get together periodically.
- www.kathienelson.com. Kathie Nelson, a local networking guru, has helpful networking tips on her website and e-newsletter.
- www.iasecp.com/. The International Association of Self-Employed Communication Professionals is made up of experts that create marketing and communication materials. The members are writers, designers, photographers and more. Many have come from the corporate world and are creating their own solo businesses or have been working (freelancing) for many years and want to learn to do it more profitably. Barbara Saunders coordinates the website, resource-rich e-newsletter, and IASECP events. A fun and lively group.
- www.veronikanoize.com. Veronika (Ronnie) Noize is fun, funny, and knows marketing inside and out. Ronnie’s Website is rich with practical tools for marketing that are applicable to freelancers in all areas. She regularly speaks in Portland and Vancouver and also offers telecourses.
